A New Chapter for Broad Street Love
A message from Chief Executive Officer Laure Biron.

Dear friends,
Lately, I’ve been thinking about what leadership really means. For me, it has nothing to do with one person being in charge. Leadership that really makes a difference is the kind that uplifts, scaffolds, harnesses, and illuminates the inherent skills, resilience, and gifts that the people around us already have.
At first glance, someone might think that at Broad Street Love, we do things for our guests. That Radical Hospitality is about giving people their needs – a meal, a change of clothes, a place to receive mail. But Radical Hospitality is about more than that: it’s about seeing the worth and the dignity in every single person, and celebrating those gifts. No one at Broad Street Love will tell a guest what they need, or prescribe how to make a change in their life. Our guests are strong, resilient, and driven. Our job is to take them seriously, and connect them to the services they truly need. Our job is to listen, and to support them on their journey.
This has been true for me, too, since I joined Broad Street Love – first as Chief Operating Officer in 2019, then as Chief Executive Officer in 2021. A good leader stewards and lifts up the gifts of their team, and lets the smart, thoughtful people around them do their best work. I am so fortunate to have led a team with so much heart, dedication, and passion for this mission. Watching them do their best work has been a privilege.
However, the time has come for me to make way for another leader. Many of you know that in the fall of 2025, I shared my intention to step down with Broad Street Love’s board of directors, and out of dedication to the mission and to my incredible team, I committed to staying with the organization through the search for my replacement.
Today, I’m writing to let you know that we’ve found that person.
When I reflect on the last seven years, it’s hard to believe that together, we’ve navigated a pandemic, multiple administrations at the city, state, and federal levels, and so much more.
But what matters is that we faced it all together.
In community, we stood up for each other, and supported each other. And at Broad Street Love, we worked to create a world that reflects the inherent dignity of every single guest. A world where, yes, everyone can sit down for a warm meal, pick up new clean clothes, receive mail, and enroll in SNAP benefits – but also a world where everyone is worthy of love, where everyone is respected, where everyone feels valued.
I am proud to have worked with multiple “generations” of deeply dedicated leadership and staff teams who go above and beyond every day; a cohort of volunteers who selflessly give their time and talents; incredible community partners who provide invaluable support to our guests; an amazing board of directors who advocates and fights for the organization; and donors who made our mission possible – the individuals, foundations, corporations, and community groups who support our mission and invest in our work.
Serving Broad Street Love has been a privilege I find hard to sum up. The people I’ve met, the work I’ve done, and the things I’ve learned over the last seven years have changed me for the better.
Even though I am stepping down, I know that with this new CEO, the energy of collective leadership will continue at Broad Street Love, because that’s who we are. We’re a community. I’m thrilled and deeply grateful to have been a part of it, and to have been part of it with you.
Shortly, you’ll see a message from Board Chair Shahrukh Tarapore, announcing Broad Street Love’s new chief executive officer, who I’ve had the privilege of meeting, and whose transition I will support in any way I can.
I will remain at Broad Street Love until mid-May, and I hope that at my last event as CEO—our Be Our Guest gala on May 7—I’ll be able to personally thank as many of you as possible for the honor of serving this mission, and to toast to the hope of Broad Street Love’s next chapter.
With gratitude,
Laure Biron, LSW, MSS, MLSP, MFA
Chief Executive Officer
